A key part of Alexander's practice is working with complex trust and succession matters, often involving multiple parties and a range of commercial issues. He has worked on high value constructive trust claims, applications to remove trustees, breaches of fiduciary duties and judicial advice applications often involving assets spread around the world. Alexander advises in relation to the validity, interpretation and administration of wills and trusts.
Alexander also accepts briefs in all areas of commercial law and has recently acted in insolvency proceedings including on appeal to the Full Court of the Federal Court of Australia, shareholder disputes and property law disputes in the Supreme Court of Queensland and Court of Appeal.
He is often approached to give strategic advice prior to the commencement of litigation.
Alexander grew up on the Darling Downs and continues to work with regional clients across Australia including a number of large pastoral holdings. His practice extends to representing clients across Australia.
Alexander is a member of 16 Quay Central Chambers in Brisbane. Prior to commencing studies for his masters degree at the University of Cambridge, he was the Associate to the Hon. Justice J.H. Byrne AO RFD, Senior Judge Administrator in the Supreme Court of Queensland. He worked as a solicitor for a number of years in London, specialising in commercial litigation and white collar disputes.
Alexander is an Affiliate Member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). He is a former treasurer of the Selden Society and has completed professional training in the administration of and dealing with disputes concerning Self-Managed Superannuation Funds. He regularly accepts briefs in pro bono matters.
Outside of work Alexander can be found on the golf course, in a light aircraft, or spending time with his wife and three children.
